Featured Festival: Food & Flick Fridays in Firestone, Colorado

FoodFlickFriday_logo_fullbackgroundThere’s a fun, family-friendly event happening in Firestone over five Fridays this summer, and it’s called Food & Flick Friday. This is an event for everyone, from the new baby in the family to that newly engaged couple who is looking for a romantic night out with Disney.

Food & Flick Friday gets underway on June 6 and runs through August 8, and takes place in Hart Park, with one exception. The July 11 Food & Flick Friday will be held at Settlers Park on Deerfield.

Attendees are encouraged to bring their lawn chairs and blankets and settle in for an evening of free entertainment. In addition to the movie at 8:30 p.m., there’s free face painting and fitness and family focused games to play from 6 to 8 p.m. There’s also a musical guest at each event.

You can bring a picnic or purchase something from the Food & Flick’s food trucks, that include everything from barbecue to waffles cakes. The food trucks remain at the event from 6 to 9 p.m.

Firestone has garnered the reputation as a great place to raise kids, and these events seem to be the perfect fit for this family-oriented community.

Without further ado, here’s what’s on tap at Food & Flick Fridays this year.

June 6, Hart Park

The movie on tap for this evening is Disney’s “Frozen,” so you might have more than a few little girls singing along with the score. The food trucks for the evening include Bodacious Eats, The Bonewagon by Oskar Blues and The Giggling Greek. Singer/songwriter Ash Ganley will be the featured musical guest.

June 20, Hart Park

This Friday’s movie is one of my all-time favorites, “The Little Mermaid,” so I believe this evening would make the perfect date night for those with 30-something wives like me. Bodacious Eats and The Giggling Greek will furnish the food, while Danny Shafer will share his guitar prowess and songwriting talent with the crowd.

July 11, Settlers Park

The evening’s movie is the sweet film, “Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey.” The food will be served up by Bodacious Eats and Manna from Heaven, while Dave Davis is the musical guest.

July 25, Hart Park

Get ready to giggle with “Despicable Me 2,” and chow down on food from The Bonewagon and Waffle Cakes. County Music Project will provide the tunes, so you may want to wear your cowboy boots and get ready to 2-step with your honey through the grass.

August 8, Hart Park

This is the last evening of Food & Flicks for the 2014 season. “Little Giants” will hit a homerun on the big screen while Waffle Cakes and Manna from Heaven will fire up your dinner. Musical entertainment will be provided by Lara Ruggles. Her folky style and smooth voice will be a beautiful wrap up to this season of fun, food and flicks in Firestone.

Remember, Food & Flick Friday is a FREE event.

Hart Park is located at 467 Jackson Avenue and Settlers Park is at 11147 Deerfield Drive.
