HeidiTown on the Radio: May 2014, Part Two

floweriing tree spring in Colorado HeidiTown.comMay has five weeks, so I had a lot to cover on my second show on KRFC 88.9 FM this month. This show has it all; music events, thought-provoking events, foodie events, wine events, motorcycle events and more. Believe me when I tell you that there’s ALWAYS something going on in Colorado.

It’s busy here year round, but summers gets crazy. I can’t keep up, and I’ve stopped trying. I do try to check as many calendars as possible, but I used to spend hours every week scouring them. Today I rely heavily on PR companies, town chambers and visit centers and other sources to keep me updated on what’s happening around Colorado.

If you are an Colorado event coordinator or promoter or Destination Marketing Organization, be sure my email is on your distribution list.

And now… on with the show! ¬†Listen to this week’s HeidiTown radio show HERE.

Spring has sprung in Colorado and it is a lovely thing indeed. The streets of our small towns are lined with blossoming trees and purple and yellow flowers are sprouting in patches along roadsides and in fields. Everywhere you look it’s green. Despite allergies, it’s one of my favorite seasons in Colorado.

In part one of May’s radio segment on KRFC 88.9 FM I chat about my upcoming trip to Delta County, several art events happening in Northern Colorado, Mike the Headless Chicken Festival and more.

HeidiTown on the Radio – April 2014, Part Two

It’s baby goat season in Colorado, so I thought Id post a picture of my with a “kid” from the Conradson Goat Farm.

For the first time since the HeidiTown segment aired on KRFC 88.9 FM, way back in August, 2011, I have missed recording a segment. I was unable to record the first show in April due to an unexpected emergency eye surgery that I wrote about previously on HeidiTown here.

Anyway, I’m back and this radio segment covers a little of what’s happening this April, although I also spent some time filling in the radio listeners on the story behind my absence.

Without further ado, LISTEN to the program HERE.

HeidiTown on the radio: Colorado in March, 2014 – Part Two

red barn in south Loveland. Photo by HeidiTown.comI tried to cover a lot in this radio segment on KRFC 88.9 FM, but I still left a lot out.

March has been pretty typical this year – one day we get a glimpse of spring and the next day it’s raining down slushy snow measuring in wet, heavy inches.

March is also the typical month for fundraising events. They seem to occur every weekend this month and next and there are a couple that I will highlight over the next several weeks, so stay tuned for your chance to dine and drink for a good cause.

This week’s radio segment covers St. Patrick’s Day and a number of spring festivals happening in the mountains, so if you’d like to be enlightened, LISTEN HERE.

I’m writing this blog post from the road, so it’s going to be extra short and sweet.

If you read this blog on a regular basis, you’ll find much of what’s in this week’s HeidiTown radio segment on KRFC 88.9 FM to be a bit redundant.

This week I give the KRFC listeners a taste of Fort Collins via a preview of Great Plates and a look at the Oscar Party happening at The Kress this Sunday evening in Greeley.

Plus, a preview of Frozen Dead Guy Days and a big tip if you plan to attend.

March is a good month for fests around Colorado, so get out and have an adventure, Colorado!

Staying warm? I hope so. This has been a rather interesting February. Tons of snow and cold temperatures may have you planning to snuggling up at home this Valentine’s Day, but throw off those blankets!

You’re tough and there’s lots of wonderful activities to experience over the next two weekends in Colorado.

In this week’s segment on KRFC 88.9 FM I talk about various festivals and events happening from Fort Collins to Leadville to Victor, Colorado. This month there’s a little something for everyone.

I’ve mentioned it before and I’ll say it, and write it again, the festival season never slows down in our wonderful state. You can always find something to do here in colorful Colorado.

I’ve recorded nearly 150 radio shows at KRFC 88.9 FM since August 2011, and that boggles my mind. I’ve literally shared 100s of festivals and lots of my own personal anecdotes. It’s really fun having this additional outlet for sharing the joys of HeidiTown, and I appreciate Brian Hughes and the rest of the KRFC staff for letting me have a segment.

Also, I’d like to thank my producers, Dianne Fishman and Mickey Treister. These two ladies produce my shows each month; and they are responsible for polishing them up so that I sound like a pro. Thank you gals, for making me sound better than I actually sound!

In this week’s radio segment I talk about everything from chocolate to snow sculpture, so without further ado, LISTEN HERE.

Winter is full swing and that doesn’t mean things slow down around HeidiTown. Festivals are scheduled year-round here in Colorado – lucky us!

This means, thankfully, I never run out of stuff to share on my radio segment on KRFC 88.9 FM.

In this week’s segment I share some upcoming Colorado winter festivals like the Cowboy Downhill in Steamboat Springs, a HamFest in Loveland and much more. I also share my HeidiTown Gives Back recipient with my radio audience.

It’s time for another HeidiTown segment on KRFC 88.9 FM. I’ve been on Fort Collins community radio since August 2011. The station has been on air since 2003. KRFC’s shows are programmed and hosted by volunteers. In fact, volunteers donate more than 40,000 hours of their time annually to KRFC and 95% of programming is hosted by real people like me.

If you’d like to support KRFC 88.9 FM go HERE.

In this week’s HeidiTown segment I talk about some ways to unwind during the hectic holiday season, and let’s face it, we all need to find some ways to decompress at this time of year. The holidays are fun, but they are also exhausting.

So without further ado, here’s HeidiTown on the Radio, Colorado in December, Part Two.
