The Hangover

Hangover-movie-01

Rated R

Directed by Todd Phillips

Starring Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms, Zach Galifianakis, Justin Bartha and Heather Graham

This is one of the funniest movies I’ve seen in awhile, although I wouldn’t recommend it to my parents. “The Hangover” follows the escapades of four friends heading to Vegas for a bachelor party. Of course, they decide to go the day before the wedding – never, never, never a good idea.

The movie begins with the guys heading to Vegas, and starting a night they hope is filled with fun and a little debauchery. The audience is then transported, along with the characters, to the morning after. Three of the original four wake up to a wrecked hotel suite. There’s a chicken, tiger and baby in their suite, and the groom is missing. Worst of all, they can remember nothing from the night before. They set out, baby-in-tow, to backtrack through their obviously crazy night and find the missing groom.

What sets “The Hangover” apart from some of the other absurd comedies of late, is despite the absurdity of the storyline, it is somehow believable, and it has heart. I rate this one a 4.5 out of 5, but will add a warning. For those who blush easily (Mom, I’m talking to you), I’d recommend avoiding this one.
