Lighthouse Cafe, Berthoud, Colorado

If you give me the choice between a banana split and a plate of fries, I’ll take the fries every time. I love French fries. I know it is not  the most healthy food choice, but when consumed in moderation they make me insanely happy, especially the fries from Light House Café in Berthoud, Colorado. I’ve been going to Light House Cafe for as long as I’ve been writing at

A HeidiTown favorite: Colorado Coffee Exhange

I’ve been remiss in my duty to review this place. My husband and I been going to this coffee shop since they first opened as a Loveland Coffee several years ago. We go there so often they recognize our vehicles when we pull up to the drive-thru. I use the coffee shop as a second office, and I use the drive-thru when I don’t have time to stop in for

Pourhouse opens in Loveland

Review originally published on August 20, 2009.   Downtown Loveland has a new restaurant at 124 E. 4th Street. The former Cipoletti’s  restaurant is now the PourhouseBar & Grill.    Pourhouse opened  yesterday, and I was there to check it out.   The first noticeable difference is the outside of the building – it has been painted black. The inside has been altered only slightly.   Walls have been removed

Mad Brad & his Trailer Trash Troubadours - CD release party

I am writing an article about this band for the newspaper. During our interview today I discovered their CD release party is this weekend, so I decided to give them a plug here on HeidiTown. Mad Brad & his Trailer Trash Troubadours is a country/bluegrass band with what guitarist, lead vocalist and writer Brad Handley calls an “eclectic” sound. The CD is called “Everything  u no iz Rong.”  My favorite

Berthoud alive with the sound of music, tomorrow night

Wildfire Community Arts Center‘s Eighth Annual Summer Film Festival is drawing to a close, with only two films left. Rained out for much of the season, tomorrow night the Center will be showing one of my personal favorites, “The Sound of Music.” Next Friday night’s film is “Despereaux” (August 28). It will be the last show of the season. The movies begin at dusk and are shown in the courtyard

"Julie & Julia" the perfect excuse for a girls' night

As my girlfriends will tell you, I need no  excuse to organize a girls’ night out, but “Julie  & Julia,” coming to theaters this Friday, is the perfect excuse! For a  brief, yet wonderful,  moment in time, I belonged to a recipe club. At our first “club” meeting, we spent three delightful hours talking about all things food-related: our favorite televisions chefs, our culinary inspirations and our cooking success and
