Rocky Mountain Irish Festival 2011

The count down till Rocky Mountain Irish Festival starts today with the first of several ticket giveaways.

The festival is scheduled for August 25-28, 2011.

Rocky Mountain Irish Festival kicks off at Budweiser Events Center with The High Kings at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 25.

The main event will be held lakeside at Boardwalk Park in Windsor, Colorado, starting on Friday, August 26, at 4 p.m.

You don’t have to be Irish to enjoy this festival featuring everything from music to rugby!  Whether you are a kid or an adult with a craving for a pint of Guinness, this WILL be the place to be at the end of August.

Rocky Mountain Irish Festival relocates to Windsor, Colorado

Irish FlagAs many of you already know, I’m crazy about Celtic festivals. I grew up attending a Scottish/Irish festival in Washington State where the massing of the bands took up two football fields. When they played Amazing Grace and Scotland the Brave, my hair would stand on end.

While the Rocky Mountain Irish Festival, formerly the Fort Collins Irish Festival, has had a bumpy ride over the last year, I have high hopes for its return this August. After two successful years in downtown Fort Collins, Colorado, due to unforeseen circumstances and national economic woes, they were forced to cancel the 2010 event that had been scheduled to take place at The Ranch in Loveland.

This summer the festival was again scheduled to take place at The Ranch, but the organizers have once again relocate the event. Rocky Mountain Irish Festival will be held at Boardwalk Park in Windsor, Colorado. This park was recently named one of the top five parks in Northern Colorado. The location along the banks of Windsor Lake and within walking distance of downtown Windor, makes it an ideal festival park.

Rocky Mountain Irish Festival is a celebration of tradition and contemporary Irish music and culture. From Irish authors to nationally known Irish bands, like The High Kings, this year’s event will give you a delicious taste of the green isle without the cloudy skies.

Rocky Mountain Irish Festival is scheduled for August 25 thru 28, 2011. The festival kicks off on Thursday, 8/25 with The High Kings, performing at Budweiser Events Center with The Cheyenne Symphony Orchestra and select area high school choirs. Tickets are just $30 and available here.

It’s official, the Celtic rock band from Kansas City, The Elders, will again be playing at this summer’s Rocky Mountain Irish Festival (formerly the Fort Collins Irish Festival).

The Elders are the Mayor’s all-time favorite band. Learn more about them and hear their music at www.eldersmusic.com.

Get yer Irish on!

EVENT  HAS BEEN CANCELLED AND IS BEING RESCEHDULED FOR 2011.  STAY TUNED FOR FURTHER DETAILS.

 

The Fort Collins Irish Festival is now the Rocky Mountain Irish Festival.  The festival’s name isn’t the only change. 

The event will now be held at The Ranch/Larimer County Fairgrounds, on August 27 - 29, 2010.

As usual, there’s a stellar line up of bands, including the U2 tribute band, Under the Blood Red Sky, and headliners Gaelic Storm.

A HeidiTown Favorite, The Elders, coming to Colorado

The Mayor’s all-time favorite band is coming to Colorado this week!  The Elders are a arse-kickin’ Celtic rock band from Kansas City.  I’ve been following this band for years and have seen them live more times than I can count.  I’ve also written multiple articles about them for HeidiTown and the Berthoud Weekly Surveyor.  I’m a pusher too – I buy their CDs as presents, and am responsible for more than a few Elders disciples.

The Elders play Colorado several times a year and are the headliners at The Fort Collins Irish Festival ever summer.  They also still play a free show every July at Loveland’s Foote Lagoon Concert Series.

If you get a chance to see The Elders live, you’ve got to take it!

January 7, 2010, The Elders play The Soiled Dove in Denver, Colorado.  There are still tickets to this show and general admission starts at only $15.  I’ve seen The Elders at SD before and it’s a near perfect venue for this band. Stoll Vaughan will be the opening band. For tickets visit The Soiled Dove. 

January 8, 2010, The Elders play Rialto Theater in Loveland, Colorado.  The historical Rialto is in the heart of downtown Loveland.  Have a bite at one of the many cozy downtown restaurants and then hit the show for a foot-stomping good time.  For tickets Rialto Theater.
