New Review Posted: No Country for Old Men

This movie won Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor in a Supporting Role and Writing (adapted screenplay).   Find out whether I agreed with the Academy: No Country for Old Men. As a side note, the 80th Academy Awards aired last Sundy. It received the all-time lowest rating for an Academy Award show. Quite frankly, it was boring.   I say, get rid Jon Stewart.  He was not funny.  Bring

Book Review: Three Cups of Tea

A book I never finished… Three Cups of Tea, one man’s mission to support peace”¦ one school at a time By Greg Mortenson and David Oliver Relin I borrowed this book with determination to read and like it. I loved both the topic and the setting (Pakistan and Afghanistan). Three Cups of Tea is a  highly popular, highly praised New York Times Best Seller, so obviously many people have loved

Surprised, I drove to work, drinking my free coffee and trying to remember the last time something like this happened to me (never) and how I could pay this kind deed forward.

Academy Awards are this Sunday

The 80th Academy Awards will be held this Sunday, February 24th and if you’re like me, you’ll be glued to your television from red carpet coverage to Best Picture announcement.   I have always been addicted to the Oscars.   I enjoy watching all the pretty-people in their Oscar-best, telling stupid little anecdotes about how hard it was to pick out just the right dress.   Like we all believe

Heidi Town stays Politically Neutral (most of the time)

I was asked today if I planned on venturing into Politics on Heidi Town.   As some of you know, my educational background is in politics and philosophy. Occasionally I may  reveal some  of my political leanings here (I can’t help it),  but for the most part I’m striving to keep Heidi Town a happy and relatively politics-free zone.     If you’d like to talk politics, take me out
