Books: Top picks of 2009

PowellsGrowing up in the Pacific Northwest, Powell’s has been part of my bookstore going experience since childhood.   If you are a book lover  it’s worth a trip to Portland, Oregon to visit Powell’s Books.   The original store was open in 1971, and now there are six locations around Portland.

I didn’t read much in 2009.   I started many books, but completed few, therefore I’ve  written very little about books here at HeidiTown.   When I saw a list of Powell’s  staff top book picks of 2009, I thought I’d share it with my audience.

  2. Is “When You Are Engulfed In Flames” on the list? If not, it should be!

  3. O.K., this book isn’t listed but I have to tell you about it. I went to the used bookstores to find another book but came home with “Stolen Innocence” by Elissa Wall who helped put FLDS polygamous sect leader Warren Jeffs behind bars. Can’t put it down, what a courageous woman! If you got upset reading Jon Krakauer’s book “Under The Banner Of Heaven” you’ll have to take some blood pressure pills before reading this book. Amazing how brainwashed people can get.
