the Colorado Rocky Mountains

While walking the dog at a lake near my house this past weekend, I stopped for a moment, in awe of a huge flock of geese flying overhead. There were at least 200 geese in this enormous V, each taking a turn flying at the back and then making their way to somewhere in the middle of the V. I watched, mesmerized until they disappearing into the southern horizon. As

“˜Tis the season for holiday events and festivals, so I’ve decided to look ahead at the next several weeks and share with my readers the events I’ve discovered. I have no doubt I’ve missed many, so feel free to add your town’s event in the comment section. Please note, in today’s post I’m only writing about November 20 thru November 27. Colorado Rapids v. FC Dallas MLS Cup Watch Party

It’s no secret, the Mayor of HeidiTown is a fanatical fan of soccer. Seriously folks, I LOVE soccer. LOVE. And it’s been a great year for Colorado soccer fans… first the World Cup and now the Colorado Rapids have made it to the MLS final in Toronto. There are several watch parties in Denver, but there wasn’t an organized event in Northern Colorado, so I decided to put one together

It's #MusicMonday on Twitter & that means a giveaway!

My first introduction to Stoll Vaughan was when he opened for The Elders at The Soiled Dove in Denver. That was ten months ago and since then I’ve seen Vaughan in concert many times. Vaughan is a singer/songwriter, who hails from Kentucky. He’s a true original and a talent like his doesn’t come along very often. His voice is mixture of Bruce Springsteen and Johnny Cash, but his style is

What to do & where to do it, this weekend in Colorado (Nov. 13-14, 2010)

I apologize for getting this list up late in the day!  It’s been a bit of a crazy week in HeidiTown. The snow may be falling along Colorado’s Front Range, but that doesn’t mean the end of market season. There are several winter markets this weekend, as well art walks, soccer and more. If none of these events suit your fancy this weekend, the Mayor likes the events calendar at

Fall in Colorado

The weather along Colorado’s Front Range is predicted to be more spring-like than fall-like this weekend. With temps in the mid-70s, it will be a great weekend to stroll the streets of Denver or take the family on a bike ride in the foothills. Whatever you do, I recommend getting outside! From soccer to art, there’s a lot going on this weekend. As a reminder HeidiTown is not a calendar

The Hotel de Paris in Georgetown, Colorado

Museum: a building or place where works of art, scientific specimens, or other objects of permanent value are kept and displayed. With the fall season up on us, and the festival and event season slowing down, individuals and families will be looking for ways to fill their weekends with fun. So I’ve decided to introduce a new section in HeidiTown dedicated to museums. In these posts, appearing on the front

What to do & where to do it this Halloween weekend in Colorado

There are so many placed to take the kids trick-or-treating in Colorado, I’m not going to list any here. Please check your local paper or online entertainment calendar to find a place near you. s ss s Fort

Old Gravestones haunted houses in Loveland, Colorado

Most of us have visited a haunted house at least once, but we usually only visit the cemetery when absolutely necessary. Halloween, however, provides the perfect time to visit a local cemetery and discover what legends surround those who now reside six feet under. A cemetery isn’t just the resting place of the dead, it tells the story of a town. Several local communities will be opening the gates to
