Celebrate KRFC 88.9 FM’s 9th birthday with FREE tickets!

Some of you may still be unaware, but Fort Collins, Colorado is becoming the place to be a rising music star, and KRFC 88.9 FM has been there along the way providing a platform for these musicians to reach out to the community and the world.

Fort Collins is very lucky to have a community radio station such as KRFC, and since August 2011, I’ve been lucky enough to be part of the radio station’s family.

KRFC’s 9th Annual Birthday Bash is bringing together the community as well as some amazing bands to celebrate and rejoice in all things music. The setting is the newly remodeled Lincoln Center – which is, by the way, perfectly magnificent.

Ben Taylor, son of James Taylor and Carly Simon, is headlining the party set for this Saturday, March 10th. There will be additional performances by 2011 local chart-topping artists, John Common and Blinding Flashes of Light, Fierce Bad Rabbit, and Danielle Ate the Sandwich. Martin Gilmore (of Long Road Home) and brilliantly gifted youth-musician Jaden Carlson round out the evening, which kicks off at 5:30pm.

Tickets range from $20 to $45, but here’s the great news.   You can enter to win a pair of tickets to this outstanding event right here on HeidiTown.com.

Just tell me your favorite Colorado live music venue and you’ll be entered! I will be choosing the random winner tomorrow, Friday, March 9 at NOON.

Good luck!

  1. I love outdoor concerts at Mishawaka in Bellvue against the backdrop of the Poudre River.

  2. This is tough, because there are so many great places. Certainly the best show I saw last summer was at the Bohemia Fest in Ft Collins (Tedeschi-Trucks tore it up), so we’ll go with that. Does that even count as a venue? If not, I’ll take the Bluebird Theater in Denver.

  5. I actually really like fiddler’s green – or whatever it is called now for the open atmosphere and cheap seats on the green. 😉

  6. Red Rocks is of course the best large venue but nothing beats live music at Mishawaka.

  7. I love seeing the little shows in the square in Old Town Fort Collins. Kids playing in the fountain and people dancing…perfect in the summer.

  8. Hmmm, the Mishawaka would be my #1, but close up there on the top shelf are Chataqua, red rocks and wildwood pavillion in Lyons

  12. I may be simple but I actually love when there is live music in Old Town Square. It’s (typically) always free, there are so many different types of music/artists to enjoy, and you do it all while basking in the beautiful Colorado weather! Plus, there is something amazing about being able to listen and then step into a nearby store for a delicious ice cream or sit on a patio and enjoy a crisp beer. Mmmmm….summer.

  13. I have been in love with Lyons Oskar Blues for 15 years! The age group here will make anyone feel welcome and you can’t beat the music that is brought into this cozy mountain town from all over the country. My husband is in love with their brewery especially their Tenfidy creamy stout, I don’t care for beer but love Tenfidy too.

  14. The winner is KAROL! Thanks to everyone who entered. Those are such great venues. Personally, I love Red Rocks – who doesn’t? But for a small town venue, I’m partial to both the Foote Lagoon in Loveland and the Estes Park river venue.

Tickets will be available at the door for this event. Thanks to my KRFC family for making this giveaway possible.
