Featured Festival: Parker Oktoberfest (Sept. 14-15, 2013)

Parker Oktoberfest 2013The following featured festival has been brought to you by Cloudknocker.com.

Oktoberfest season is nearly here, so let’s all raise our steins in a big happy PROST! Over the next couple months, these German fests will take place all over Colorado. A few are authentic, and many are not, but they are all a good reason to party and drink good beer.

Despite its location in O’Brien Park (which sounds suspiciously Irish to me) the Parker Oktoberfest is an authentic German fest complete with all the right ingredients for a proper Oktoberfest. According to their Facebook page, they are even attempting to track down a yodeler for their event. I hope they find one.

If they do find a yodeler, he or she will join the other weekend’s entertainers which include The Average German Band, Young Minded Accordions, The Continentals and, my personal favorite, the TEV Edelweiss Volkstanzgruppe Dancers.

This is a family friendly festival with two days of activities for both the young and young at heart. Festival goers will even have an opportunity to meet Miss Oktoberfest. The fest featured 84 vendors last year, and this year they hope for 90, so come prepared to do a little shopping.

The beer garden will feature Paulaner, a proper German bier. And if beer gives you courage, you may wish to participate in the Parker Oktoberfest’s feats of strength. There will be a stein hoisting competition, as well as a keg rolling competition. The Parker Oktoberfest Facebook page keeps revealing more fun plans for the event every day, so be sure to keep tabs on it here.
