A brand new wine event is happening in Breckenridge, Colorado over Memorial Day Weekend. The Breckenridge Wine Extravaganza is unique because it will feature all Colorado wineries, musicians and food. Take it from me, it’s difficult to find a Colorado-centric wine festival outside of the Western Slope area.
There are three days of festivities, all taking at Beaver Run Resort. I’m a big fan of this resort and love the chill ambiance. They have everything from hotel style rooms to four bedroom condo style suites available. There are two swimming pools; one with a poolside bar. The Colorado Suite that I stayed in this past winter was huge, with lots of character. Ours had an entire room dedicated to the gigantic jacuzzi tub. They have a wonderful shuttle service that takes you all over Breckenridge and will pick you up too, but should you decide to eat at the resort, there are three restaurant/bars to choose from.

The wine festival will be held indoors. It features a Winemakers Dinner, a Chocolate & Cheese Pairing event and seminars. The main event, held on Saturday, will featured the band Dotsero and musicians Sarah Snead and Gary Meyers. A few of the Colorado wineries attending are Garfield Estates from Palisade, Ryker’s Cellars from Denver and Hellavua Wine, bottled in Loveland, Colorado. Their Purgatory Red was one of my favorites this past winter.
Now for the good news.
I’m giving away a ONE NIGHT STAY at Beaver Run Resort (May 24, 2014), PLUS two tickets to the Breckenridge Wine Extravaganza (Saturday only).
To enter the contest you must leave a comment below telling me your favorite Colorado winery. If you haven’t tried many Colorado wineries, tell me you favorite overall winery. Only one entry per person, please. The winner will be chosen at random on Wednesday, May 21 at 12 p.m.
IMPORTANT: Be sure to leave me an email address that you check on a regular basis. The winner will have 24 hours to respond, after which a new winner will be chosen.
More good news!
For those of you who don’t win the Big Prize you can still attend this awesome event for a discounted price by booking through Beaver Run Resort’s website HERE.
The Breckenridge Wine Extravaganza is a benefit for the Breckenridge Mountain Rotary Club.

We were just in Hotchkiss, but missed a lot of the wineries around there because we were a couple weeks ahead of the summer season openings. We HAVE to go back. I want to try Jack Rabbit Hill.

I had no idea that Colorado had so many wineries! I’m familiar with Garrett Estate Winery in Olathe because Mitch Garrett signed a bottle of Riesling when I met him at a local liquor store and I’ve had Aspen Peak Cellars in Bailey because I stayed at their B&B when it was still in operation. I do really like Two Rivers.

I would LOVE to win this!! If I win I will take my daughters for a girls getaway!

I love The Winery at Holy Cross Abbey down in Canon City. It’s not just the wines themselves but what a great atmosphere and beautiful area. It”s a must-stop for anyone passing through on 50 (it’s just off the main road).

our favorite vineyard and winery is owned by pat stryker of ft collins. it is not in colorado. but when we went to california we loved going there because of the colorado connection and because the place is gorgeous. it is set up on a hill with a fabulous view over other nearby vineyards. wonderful!

Canyon Wind Cellars ~ the wine is wonderful and the people are too!

I’ve only had Plum Creek wine, but I’d really love to try all of them. Red wines are my favorite. This is a great promotion to make people aware of Colorado wines!
