Long before Denver was a trendy urban metropolis, I worked near the capitol building, and even in the early part of the 2000s, I loved the Mile High City. Today, however, a weekend in Denver has never been more fun.
One especially entertaining spot to visit is the newly renovated Dairy Block. Located a block southwest of Coors Field, this revitalized section of the city features a hotel and a variety of fun spots to eat and drink. The Dairy Block, which is gaining new tenants every day, is the place to be in downtown Denver.
The Maven Hotel & Baseball
Being one block from Coors Field has its benefits and The Maven Hotel takes full advantage of its location. I hadn’t imagined exactly how wonderful it would be to stay here for a Colorado Rockies game until I did it with my friend Karen last weekend.
Once our car was valet parked and we had checked-in, it took us mere minutes to get to Coors Field on foot. We breezed through security and were whisked up the elevator to where Karen had secured two seats on the Club Level.

There’s no easier way to experience a game than with a stay at The Maven Hotel, and they have a special package available for baseball fans.
The Maven Hotel’s Home Run Package includes your stay plus free valet parking, two craft beers, two boxes of Cracker Jacks and a $25 stadium gift card. An ideal gift for a baseball lover or the perfect getaway to the Mile High City for baseball fans.
There’s also the Colorado Rockies 25th Anniversary Bucket List package which includes two nights in The Maven’s baseball-themed Diamond Suite, two premier tickets in the Rockies Press Club, a VIP pre-game tour, and so, so much more. This package must be booked at least two weeks in advance. See a list of home Rockies games here.
The Denver Milk Market at the Dairy Block
The Maven Hotel is harmoniously designed, blending the best of Colorado’s past and present into a beautiful mosaic of what the city is today: a place where the entrepreneurial spirit is strong and the milieu is filled with possibility.
This attitude is on display in the Denver Milk Market which is accessible through The Maven Hotel lobby. The market is a collection of concept restaurants and bars that all exist under one roof. The idea is relatively new on the Denver scene and I love that each place has its own special narrative (available at DenverMilkMarket.com).
The Moo Bar is at the center of the hubbub at the market which is perfect for an evening of fascinating entertainment in the form of food and drink. From a pizza place with every sort of pickled topping you can imagine to a butchery, creperie, seafood, poke, fried chicken, cheese and more, there’s something for every taste here, unless you’re me—I love to eat everything and therefore will have to go back again and again to try it all.

My biggest tip is that Moo Bar features $6 cocktails at happy hour and these cocktails are amazing. Think lemongrass tonic with Leopold Gin, a match made in booze heaven.
I took my husband to the market this week for dinner. We started with a cocktail at Moo Bar and then surveyed our options. We both had a burger craving and ordered from Ruth’s Butchery pairing our meal with a bottle of Italian red wine from Cellar, just $18. At Cellar, you can buy wine by the glass or by the bottle. Next door there’s a beer bar for those who want to try a variety of craft beer.
At Ruth’s, I got the green chile queso burger that was worth every messy drop of goodness and Ryan opted for the double deluxe. While we want to try something else at the market the next time we drop in, it will be difficult to pass up burgers from Ruth’s Butchery.

Of course, Ryan had to end his meal with mint chocolate chip gelato from Cornicello at the market. I’ve become a real fan of gelato because the flavors are so intense and this was no exception.
The Denver Milk Market is a real bonus for guests of The Maven Hotel, as is the fact that the hotel is so close to Coors Field. Whether you’re booking a room or just coming for dinner, Denver’s new Dairy Block is what the future of the Mile High City is all about and I approve.
Thank you to The Maven Hotel for hosting our stay.
