On the Road in Grand Junction, Colorado: Take a Hike with the Dog

When you think of Grand Junction, mountain biking probably comes to mind. That’s because it’s an ideal location to push yourself to the limit on two wheels. For various reasons, I stay on my feet, and while it’s a top mountain biking destination, Grand Junction is an ideal spot to hike. We browsed several online maps of Grand Junction and were shocked to see how many trails are in the

We just returned from a dog-friendly trip to Grand Junction, a town of 62,000 on the Western Slope in Mesa County. The area is great for a getaway with Fido, or in our case, Fritzi. Not only was our hotel dog-friendly, but there are dog parks, and trails everywhere. Well-behaved dogs are even allowed in some downtown stores and on many restaurant and brewery patios. Our last day in North Platte was a whirlwind. After our outing to see the cranes by bus, we went to the Golden Spike Tower. Some of you have seen the signs for this attraction. We grabbed fruit from our hotel’s breakfast bar, filled our coffee mugs and headed out. We were up this early for a prairie chicken tour, yes, I was doing this for the birds. This bird, the

Hold on to your hats, I am going to write about birds. However, you don’t have to be working on your “list” or be a bird nerd like me in order to enjoy these outings. This is about more than birding, it’s about a moment of nature that very few get to experience. And that, my friends, is bragging rights.  North Platte, Nebraska is in the flyway for migrating Sandhill

I want to highlight some of the other aspects of Vista Verde Ranch. You already know all about the horses and food, however, there is much more to this incredible Colorado ranch. Each day, there is a list of activities to pick from, including a trip downtown to do some shopping in Steamboat Springs. Embrace your inner Katniss Everdeen  I fielded a few questions as to whether or not Vista
