Where to Stay in Vail, Colorado: Manor Vail Lodge

We were in Vail to eat and drink. We were attending Taste of Vail, an event that I love. Manor Vail Lodge had offered to host me, so we were all set for this three-night eating and drinking extravaganza. Little did we know, Manor Vail Lodge will feed you too (and feed you really, really well).

Arriving on a Thursday, we settled in and then walked over to Quri Vodka Presents Niman Ranch Pork Challenge & Après Tasting. This year it was pork, and we ate our way through bite after bite of delicious pork.

My favorite bite of the day was from Ludwig’s at the Sonnenalap Hotel. The judges agreed as this took home the judges’ pick for Best Bite.

The best pairing for this bite was something I did accidentally. I ate this Asian-inspired skewer with Plum Creek Winery’s Festival, a white that’s a bit on the sweet side for me. However, it was delicious with this pork dish.

It just takes about five minutes to walk from Manor Vail Lodge. That’s right, this property is just east of Vail Village, meaning getting a drink at 10th Mountain Whiskey & Spirits is super easy (should you want to and I always do).

The Food at Manor Vail Lodge

A stay at Manor Vail Lodge comes with a lot of food. And, it’s not just good, it’s pretty darn great food. First, breakfast is provided every morning, and not just any old breakfast. This breakfast buffet is restaurant quality, not hotel quality, and there is a difference.

This was waiting for us at the condo when we returned on the first evening.

There are the usual juice station, hot drinks, scrambled eggs, potatoes and breakfasts meat. And then, there is an omelet bar. That individual will also fry guests an egg or two. To order. In addition, there is fresh fruit, oatmeal and toppings, and various kinds of bread. And, you can take it to-go. Available hot meals change too, with an offering of flaky biscuits and sausage-laden gravy on Saturday morning.

On Friday night, we managed to try The Fitz Bar + Bites. Ridge + River is the Manor Vail Lodge’s newest restaurant, but our Taste of Vail schedule didn’t allow us to visit. However, if The Fitz Bar is any indicator, it’s phenomenal.

We both had burgers plus salads and a side of truffle fries. Some of you know, but I am a burger snob. I want my burger the way I want it! And if your restaurant can’t hit a cook, I am disappointed.

This was an excellent burger, and this is how I know that it was way above average. I took two fried eggs to-go the next day from the breakfast buffet. I heated the leftover half of my burger and covered it with the eggs. It was still melt-in-my-mouth delicious. This can only happen if it was pretty spectacular to begin with.

A “put an egg on it” masterpiece.

Plus, Ryan declared the truffle fries to be the best he’s ever eaten. High praise from the guy who rarely hands out praise. Also, the wait staff, who had no idea that I was a writer, were friendly and attentive. I know it’s been a struggle for mountain communities to find and retain staff and these people were tops.

Walking out of breakfast on the last day at Manor Vail Lodge, I heard a little girl exclaim to her mother, “That was the best breakfast yet!”  I couldn’t leave a better review.

The Pool at Manor Vail Lodge

The pool and hot tubs on the riverside of the property are new and gorgeous. Apparently, they really shine at night, but we were too busy to check this out. However, we did manage to make it to the pool and hot tubs that were in front of our condo. Yes, there are two pools and a total of four hot tubs!

The pool life is for me. I only wish I had one! And this pool was so warm. I simply relaxed and floated while Ryan soaked in the hot tub.

Our Condo at Manor Vail Lodge

We were #270, a one-bedroom with a bathroom large enough for two vanities and a huge shower. I was obsessed with the boxes on the wall above the entry bench. There was room for hats, sunglasses, and so much more.

Let’s just say that we are very comfortable during our three-night stay.

Manor Vail Lodge is an excellent choice in a town with a lot of lodging options. From the front desk to housekeeping, everyone is genuinely nice at this property. Condos range from studios to three bedrooms condos and penthouses. Sorry, no pets.
