Golden Music Festival Logo

I love music. I grew up in a family where guitars were played on a nightly basis and a singalong accompanied by the piano was commonplace. I don’t, however, go to a lot of music festivals. There are two reasons for this, and the first reason is that they tend to be pricey. Second, like beer festivals, there are a lot of them. They happen all the time, especially in

TEDx Feed Your Brain LOGO

TEDx Front Range is taking place in Loveland, Colorado on May 31, 2013. It’s not a festival per se, but I am featuring the event this week anyway. I attended my first TEDx last year, and was pleasantly surprised. I walked away inspired and impressed with the level of talent and determination that emanated from the stage on that afternoon. If you aren’t familiar with TEDx, it originated from TED.

Water fountain & sculpture in Old Town Fort Collins HeidiTown.com

So you’ve decided to spend a weekend in Fort Collins – a very good choice, and even better if you plan your stay around Colorado Brewers’ Festival, June 22-23, 2013. In its 24th year, this is one of the first Colorado brew fests and my favorite. With multiple music stages, lots of shade and of course, lots and lots of beer, the Colorado Brewers’ Festival ticks all the right boxes

Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad HeidiTown.com

May 11th is National Train Day, which means it will be an excellent day to ride a train or visit a train museum, like the Colorado Railroad Museum or the Greeley Freight Station Museum. There are wonderful, year-round opportunities in Colorado to experience trains, both full-size passenger trains and model railroads. I have compiled a list of festivals and shows for you to consider this summer, fall and winter. I

Featured Festival: Front Range Rally, beer & food truck fest in Loveland

A new beer festival rolls into Northern Colorado this May, and the unique feature at this event will be food trucks. The brainchild of the guys at Grimm Brothers Brewhouse and my favorite beer blogger, Dave of Fermentedly Challenged, Front Range Rally is about all about drinking good beer and eating good food for a good cause. More than 30 craft breweries are participating in the festival, along with 15

Gov Art Show Invitation

I have always surrounded myself with artists; my mother is an artist, many of my friends are artists and I even married an artist. That’s why I think the Governor’s Invitational Art Show & Sale is so important. It brings renowned artists from around Colorado under one roof in one of the state’s most artistic towns. This is the 22nd year of the prestigious show that runs April 28-June 2

Nothing moves us quite like music. If you are anything like me, music is one of the most powerful memory triggers. While certain tunes take me back to college or high school, other songs take me back to a specific place and time. To this day if I hear “Every Morning” by Sugar Ray I have a vivid memory of driving through the hills of west Seattle with my girlfriend

KRFC BASH POSTER

It’s hard to believe, but I’ve been on the radio at KRFC 88.9 FM for over a year and a half now. They came to me during the summer of 2011, asking if I’d be interested in doing a community segment, and I jumped at the chance. For 80 weeks I produced nearly 100 percent new material for the five minute show. With an increasingly active travel schedule, at the

Fort Collins DBA St. Patrick's Day Logo

Full disclosure: As a redhead with an Irish grandmother, I’m a big fan of St. Patrick’s Day. BIG. Last year I finally attended the Lucky Joe’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Fort Collins, Colorado, and it’s a heck of a good time. This is one of Fort Collins’ biggest parties of the year, with half the town coming out to witness the huge parade and after party in Old Town

Disabled Resource Services logo

It’s the first Monday of the month and that means it’s time to introduce the recipient of HeidiTown Gives Back. Each month a different Colorado-based charity is picked to receive free ad space on HeidiTown.com and a blog post about their organization. I chose  Disabled Resource Service (DRS) this month because their biggest event of the year is on March 22, 2013, and I wanted to help them spread the
