Kress Cinema & Lounge in Greeley, Colorado

Kress Cinema & Lounge at 817 8th Avenue, Greeley, Colorado. Photo by H.M. Kerr-Schlaefer A couple weeks ago I walked into the Kress Cinema & Lounge in Greeley for the first time, and the  first words out of my mouth were, “How did I not know about this place?” The truth is, despite being in business for several years, I’d never heard of the Kress until the Greeley Chamber of

HeidiTown Rant: Serving breakfast, open at 8 a.m.?

I have a major complaint. If a restaurant wants to get in on breakfast service they need to open at least by 7 a.m., maybe earlier. Most people work. Yep, it’s true. And most working people need to be at work by 8 a.m. My husband and I love going out for breakfast on a weekday, especially a Monday. We are business owners, so it gives us some time to

Monroe's Lounge Bar in Loveland, Colorado

I discovered Monroe’s Lounge this past summer when I was invited to attend a Friday night networking group for people on Twitter.com. My husband and I were quite surprised when we found the place to be much more than just a hotel bar. Located inside the newly remodeled Best Western on the southwest corner of I25 and Eisenhower (Hwy 34), Monroe’s is a classy bar ideally located for networking groups

The Mayor lunches at Young's Cafe (Fort Collins, Colorado)

One day before we celebrate the passing of Saint Patrick by drinking lots of green beer, the Mayor got a craving for Asian food. To quench this hunger I had lunch today at Young’s Café in Fort Collins, Colorado.   Apparently I am the only Northern Coloradoan not to have eaten at Young’s Café. The restaurant has been in open since 1987, and has been voted “Best Oriental Food” of

"Clue" by Candlight

Being a true fan of dinner theater, I’ve been anxious to visit this relatively new playhouse located just off I25 near the famous Johnson’s Corner in Johnstown, Colorado. I’d heard the 6 million dollar facility is fantastic inside and I was not disappointed; the place is outstanding. I felt like I’d just walked out of Northern Colorado and into a Broadway playhouse.   Dinner seating begins at 6 p.m. and

HeidiTown loves Georgetown, Colorado

I can’t tell you how many times my husband Ryan and I have driven by Georgetown, Colorado. We had no idea  we were missing such a gem. Located along I70, just 45 minutes west of Denver, we first discovered Georgetown while driving back from a hiking trip this past August.   We stopped in to find some lunch and instead, found a vibrant, historic community. We lunched at The

Pourhouse opens in Loveland

Review originally published on August 20, 2009.   Downtown Loveland has a new restaurant at 124 E. 4th Street. The former Cipoletti’s  restaurant is now the PourhouseBar & Grill.    Pourhouse opened  yesterday, and I was there to check it out.   The first noticeable difference is the outside of the building – it has been painted black. The inside has been altered only slightly.   Walls have been removed
