Featured Festival: Kremmling Days, June 13-15, 2014

K Days Kremmling Days logoRemember the song Home on the Range? Well, Kremmling, Colorado is where the deer and the antelope play. It’s a destination for those who truly want to get away. There are no malls here, no freeways – just miles of ranch land punctuated by the occasional table top mountain and views of the majestic Rockies. At 7,313 feet above sea level, the town is located in Grand County.

Kremmling may be a dot on the rural part of the Colorado map, but this doesn’t mean it’s boring. The town’s tagline is “Untamed & Untapped” and the citizens enjoy a lifestyle that includes hunting, fishing, rafting, kayaking and any other activities that gets them outside. Visitors to Kremmling love to explore these adventurous undertakings as well and Kremmling Days it the perfect time to experience the area.

Kremmling Days is an annual community festival that’s a party for the citizens as well as visitors. This is a chance for the town folk to unwind and town guests to enjoy an “untamed & untapped” mini-vacation.

Music plays a big role at Kremmling Days and multiple bands will take the stage, including the two headliners. On Friday evening at 8 p.m., it’s The Seventh Time, a Denver band with a rock-n-roll soul. From Def Leppard to Joan Jett, these guys will keep the crowd dancing. On Saturday night at 8 p.m., Country Red will keep the party going with their downhome country sound. You may want to polish up your two-step before they play.

Friday and Saturday festivalgoers can enjoy all sorts of activities; listen to music, spend time in the beer garden, attend a Fireman’s BBQ or participate in a horseshoe tournament. There’s a KidZone with a mechanical bull and other kid-friendly entertainment and games. Folks can also pick up a pie at the annual Pie Sale to benefit the Historical Society.

The parade is at 10:15 on Saturday, June 14. In addition there’s a golf tournament, a fun run and a Redneck Mud Shuffle at the Fairgrounds. I have no idea what that last event is, but I think I have a few friends who would enjoy it nonetheless.

Kremmling Days is a good excuse to jump on the motorcycle, or gas up the camper and head to Kremmling, Colorado. Just under two hours from Denver and just under three hours from Colorado Springs and Fort Collins, this is the opportunity for the family to experience Colorado’s untamed and untapped Town of Kremmling.
