Celebrate New Year’s Eve at a Colorado ski resort

Want to get high in Colorado this New Year’s Eve? It’s super easy and I’m not referring to a drug induced high. If you were to fly high above the Rocky Mountains on New Year’s Eve, you’d see an array of fireworks, from Steamboat Springs to Telluride the mountains would be covered in sparkling flashes of color.

New Year’s Eve in  Breckenridge

Breckenridge, Colorado knows how to put on a party and New Year’s eve is no exception. Fireworks over Peak 9 start at 9 p.m., but prior to the show your kids are invited to take part in the Glow Worm Parade – it’s like a torchlight parade, except the kids are skiing on the greens with glow sticks instead of fire. Registration starts at 5 p.m. at the Beaver Run Ski & Snowboard School and the parade starts at 5:45 p.m. This is an experience your little ones won’t soon forget.

The Torchlight Parade by Breckenridge Ski & Snowboard School takes place at 6 p.m. and the fireworks display is at 9 p.m. The fireworks can be seen from Main Street.

Need a place to stay? We love Beaver Run Resort. The Village at Breckenridge is also ideally located for Breckenridge vacation.

New Year’s Eve in  Steamboat Springs

I have experienced New Year’s Eve in Steamboat and it’s most excellent. Their Torchlight Parade was unlike anything I’d ever seen. The Steamboat Ski Snowsports Ski School puts on a luminous on-snow parade that spills down the mountain. Following this spectacle attendees will enjoy the annual New Year’s Eve fireworks display.

The festivities get underway at 5:20 p.m. and one of the best locations from which to catch the show is the Steamboat Sheraton.

New Year’s Eve in  Snowmass

I haven’t visited Snowmass in the winter, but I sure did fall in love with it this past summer. It’s a super fun event town and on New Year’s Eve there will be a Torchlight Parade on the slopes and you can participate as long as you are eight or older. You must sign up at the Ticket Pavilion at the Snowmass Mall between December 25 and December 31 (by 5 p.m.). For more information go here.

New this year, Snowmass has scheduled their fireworks display for New Year’s Eve (in the past it has occurred on the Saturday prior to NYE).

Snowmass welcomes the New Year with a fantastic show, but you don’t have to take my word for it. Check out the following video.
