Warning about Saltgrass Steakhouse in Westminster, Colorado

We ate at Saltgrass Steakhouse in Westminster, Colorado on 7/20/09.   The food was fine, but our poor little waitress needs to find another calling in life.   We actually had to go to the bar to get our waters. But this isn’t our real complaint about this restaurant.

On the evening we were there, something was wrong with their credit card machines.   It took us over  20 minutes to get our receipt and then, several days later, we realize they charged our card twice.

We’ve been battling with them every since  to refund the money.   They are always nice on the phone, but never follow through on what they promise.   We have called them every week since this happened, but still no refund.   They even convinced us not to dispute it with our bank, because they promised to refund us promptly.

Today we’ve decided this has gone too far and are disputing the charge.   We will never go back to this restaurant.   I’d advise you to stay away too.

  1. Thanks for the tip, nothing ruins a meal more than inept staff. Well, I guess cockroaches or something would be worse … I try to avoid dining in Denver outside the “beltway,” we stick pretty much core downtown, but have some great options, Le Central, Fruition, Potager are all short walks, and there’s tons of less-expensive fare around as well … any real finds you have for Capitol Hill area?

  2. I don’t know if this counts as “Capital Hill area,” but when I worked on Downing (a long time ago), I frequently went to Pasquini’s at 1336 East 17th. We still go there occasionally if we in the area. I love their anti-pasta and they have a great patio. I’ve never been to any of their other locations.

  3. I would have to disagree with you on this. Everytime I have been to this restaurant everything has been great, and the staff is all so professional and seem very well trained. My mother had a steak that she wanted cooked up more and the manager came straight to the table and took care of it and apologized even though she ordered it the wrong temp her self! If your a steak person as I am, I have not gone to any of the other steak houses sense I found them. Maybe you should try it again, to bad you were there on a night when they were having a problem.

  4. Hi Mike,
    Thanks for checking out HeidiTown!
I’m glad you’ve had good experiences at Saltgrass.
However, this dispute took several months to resolve and that is unacceptable. I know part of the problem was corporate, but still… wild horses couldn’t get us back in their doors.
