Disneynature's "Oceans" - a review

Rated G Directed by Jacque Cluzaud and Jacque Perrin Narrated by Pierce Bronson Heidi’s Illustrious Review: 4.5/5 Word of Warning: No warning. I think everyone, including children, should see this movie. I have had a special bond with the ocean since childhood. In fact, I was born in a Southern Oregon hospital that is perched high on a hilltop overlooking the Pacific. The ocean is something I’ve always loved and

Taste of Loveland, Colorado

We had a ton of fun and food  at the 5th Annual Taste of Loveland, held on April 22 at Embassy Suites.   This year’s theme was Foothills Wine & Food Experience, but it could have been called the Foothills Wine, Beer  & Food Experience. Not only did 30 area  restaurants attend, so did 34 wine distributors, as well as a large number of local breweries and national beer distributors.

Happy Earth Day!

It’s not surprising that the DVD of “Avatar” was released on today – Earth Day.   But sorry folks, I still don’t like this one.    The only thing that saved this movie from itself was the amazing 3D graphics.   So unless you have a 3D television it is simply  not worth it.   I know, I know.   Some of you LOVE this movie, so fire away! Crossed Wires

Sometimes it feels like technology is speeding along like a run away train, but then I have a conversation like this and I realize we aren’t all on board. This morning I called a local restaurant in a small Northern Colorado town to inquire as to whether they have wireless. Book Review: "Lone Survivor"

Review by Matt Dworak I just finished reading the book “Lone Survivor” by Marcus Luttrel and felt compelled to share.   My brother Drew had recommended the book.   Drew’s not a big reader and when he said he finished the book in two days that caught my attention.   I should also mention that after finishing the book I had my wife read it, for women’s perspective.   She

"Date Night" - Worth full price!

Rated PG13 Directed by Shawn Levy Starring Steve Carell, Tiny Fey, Mark Wahlberg, Taraji P. Henson, Jimmi Simpson Heidi Illustrious Rating: 4/5 Word of Warning: Good clean fun. Reminiscent of a comedy from the late 80s or early 90s, “Date Night” doesn’t rely on the type of “shock comedy” that has become so popular, making this one okay for the older kids, but best for a date night. Lighthouse Cafe, Berthoud, Colorado

If you give me the choice between a banana split and a plate of fries, I’ll take the fries every time. I love French fries. I know it is not  the most healthy food choice, but when consumed in moderation they make me insanely happy, especially the fries from Light House Café in Berthoud, Colorado. I’ve been going to Light House Cafe for as long as I’ve been writing at
