Featured Festival: Magic in the Rockies + win tickets

Magic in the Rockies logoHere’s a little secret about the Mayor of HeidiTown – I love magic. If you are a magician or a comedian I’m the gal you want in your audience. I simply love the feeling of being astounded. Maybe it’s because some days it feels like there just isn’t enough enchantment left in the world.   Maybe it’s because I’m a kid at heart.

Whatever the reason, I am super excited to tell you about today’s Featured Festival, Magic in the Rockies (MITR).   MITR is actually a huge magic convention that’s been attracting magicians from all over the world to Fort Collins, Colorado for the past 19 years. Yes, this is the event’s 20th anniversary, and the conference runs October 3-6, 2013.

You can see the impressive two-page list of MITR headlining magicians here.

While magicians come to MITR to learn and mingle with others who practice their mysterious trade, there are two public shows you won’t want to miss.

First, on Friday evening, October 4, at 8 p.m. its “Mostly Mental: Mind Reading, Mentalism & Magic.” This is my favorite sort of magic. This isn’t parlor tricks, they reads minds. Don’t believe a magician can read your thoughts? I bet “Mostly Mental” will change your mind.

On Saturday, October 5, at 2 p.m., there’s a public show that’s entirely different than Friday’s event. This show is entitled, “Magic Matinee: Family Magic Show,” and is a family-friendly performance that will flabbergast both you and your children.

Both shows take place at the Fort Collins Marriott.

Tickets are $11 & $15, and are ONLY available at MagicInTheRockies.org, or by calling 970-818-8138. Seating is limited.

BUT WAIT here’s your chance to win tickets from HeidiTown.com. I’m giving away 2 tickets to the Friday night show right here, and then next week, on HeidiTown’s Facebook page, I’ll be giving away 2 tickets to the Saturday matinee. Feel free to enter both contests.

To enter the contest for 2 tickets to “Mostly Mental: Mind Reading, Mentalism & Magic” taking place on Friday, October 4, just leave a comment on this post letting me know how you happened to learn about this contest – whether it was through Twitter, Facebook, Google Plus, or some other way. Good luck!

Contest ends Wednesday, September 25 at 9 p.m.

NOTE from the MAYOR: I was personally introduced to this event by Cheyenne, Wyoming-based magician,  Dan Jaspersen. I’ve been lucky enough to see Dan perform on several occasions and I am always amazed.  Always.
