Dance like nobody’s watching. Eat all the things. Enjoy circus performers. Listen to live music. Buy art. In its 41st year, at Greeley Arts Picnic you can do all these things and more.

Greeley Arts Picnic is held under the big trees at Lincoln Park. It’s a good reason to round up the entire family, including grandma, and head to downtown Greeley and enjoy a summer weekend of art and fun.
Greeley is home to a robust art community. Whether they are throwing clay at The Clay Center of Northern Colorado or making soap in their kitchen, Greeley has always been a place for artists to practice their craft. However, the Greeley Arts Picnic isn’t just about homegrown artists. The festival attracts more than 150 artists and crafters from around the world, and attendance has soared from 2000 to 20,000.

Art is the heart and soul of Greeley Arts Picnic, and vendor tents pop up on paths around the park. Shoppers will find everything from photography to pottery to fiber arts. And it’s not just the usual suspects who will show up at this event. For instance, Zamboid Longboards makes unique wooden boards in Greeley for the discriminating skater in your life.
When I say there is something for everyone at this event, I am not exaggerating.
We attended several years ago and we’re excited to discover that a succession of bands play near the beer tent, and food options are vast. As I have written before, Greeley is a food Mecca and the Greeley Arts Picnic features food from every corner of the world including France, Greece, Mexico, the Middle East and Italy. There’s American BBQ too.
Children (and parents) will love the Creation Station where there are kid-oriented hands-on arts and craft projects to keep restless hands busy. Everyone will be entertained by circus performers who will wander the grounds performing fantastic feats.
The event kick-off is July 26, during Friday Fest, one of my favorite Greeley events. Wear your dancing shoes because FUNKAPHINO is taking the stage and I know from first-hand experience that this band is pure fun.
