Last year, I attended Sweetheart Festival on both days of the event. Both times I was so proud of what is on offer in my hometown of Loveland, Colorado. Sweetheart Festival is a spectacle for the eyes as well as the heart. And don’t forget the other senses; they are all engaged at this fiesta of love.

The heart of the festival is at The Foundry in downtown, a big square that serves as an event space and park. Surrounded by restaurants, and a coffee shop, The Foundry is also home to a dine-in theater with an onsite bar and restaurant.
Our first stop on our first escapade last year was the beer tent. I call it a “beer tent” but visitors can also order wine. After a local libation, we made our way out into the hustle and bustle of the event.
There is literally a cornucopia of creative activities happening during the Sweetheart Festival. We saw all of the following and so much more.
Clouds of ice glitter as sculptors created 3-dimensional imag from chunks of frozen water.
Dancers twirl light and fire at dizzying speeds around their heads and entire bodies.
Photo opportunities abound, including selfie-stations and colorful cardboard cutouts with which to pose. Or, perhaps, pose with a wandering heart or another animated character that may wander by.
The Foundry will be active from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday, February 10, and Saturday from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. Activities will include all of the above plus face painting, a Colorado Eagles Shoot Booth, Love Lock purchase and engraving and so much more!
Multiple indoor venues will host events like Little Miss Valentine and Little Mr. Cupid at the Rialto Theater, and a Cupcake Cabaret show at Loveland Aleworks. Other venues with various events include Loveland Museum, Artworks and Desk Chair. In addition, there is a Sweetheart Classic four-mile race and the Valentine Flea Market (just a block away from The Foundry on 4th Street).

Sweetheart Festival is an event for ages 0 to 109. However, be sure to dress warmly as this Colorado winter has blessed us with our fair share of snow and cold.
You don’t have to wait until February 10-11 to be entertained in Loveland during Valentine’s month. Starting tomorrow, February 1, the lights will be on at Chapungu Sculpture Park adjacent to The Promenade Shops at Centerra.
I’ve only touched the surface of the myriad of events planned for this Valentine’s Day extravaganza in Loveland, Colorado. Check out the website for all the details.
