This event is still nearly two month away, but today the entertainment line-up for this corny community festival is being released on Facebook. I thought it was the ideal time to direct my readers to  the Mayor of HeidiTown’s article on this long-running festival –> read article here. Spirits at Sunset logo

This year, Summerfest in the Rockies will kick off on July 8, 2011 with Spirits at Sunset. This is a twist on their usual wine tasting event. With a unique new distillery now open in Loveland, as well as a new brewery, the organizers thought it would be fun to highlight these two small businesses. The evening will be an interactive beer and spirits tasting with drinks provided by Dancing

Dice on rearview mirror

I blogged about this event last year and then again on May 18. I am now excited to announce that I’ll be giving away two tickets to Colorado Nationals, the largest car show west of the Mississippi. The show is being held this weekend, June 3-5 at the The Ranch Complex in Loveland, Colorado. This is going to be a fast and furious giveaway, just like many cars that will

Where to find free live music in Northern Colorado

One of my favorite summer activities is listening to live music while laying in the green grass and watching the clouds roll by. When I researched summer outdoor music options in Northern Colorado, I was overwhelmed. If you were so inclined, you could spend every evening of the week listening to live music somewhere in Colorado, and I think that’s pretty awesome. I’ve mentioned several of these events before, but

1955 Chevy purple

The Mayor never used to be much of a car person, however, buying a car with a V6, along with a newly developed love affair with Top Gear on the BBC, has changed all that. I still don’t consider myself a “car person” because I don’t know a lot about them, but I do like them a lot. There’s no better place for a car girl, or wanna-be car girl,

Greeley History Museum from the outside.

I had the opportunity to stop by the Greeley History Museum yesterday after an interesting meeting with the executive director of the Greeley Philharmonic Orchestra. The orchestra, like the rest of Greeley, has a rich history and the Greeley History Museum is the place to go for the full story. Current exhibits include a comprehensive look at the 100-year Greeley Philharmonic Orchestra, and the history of Weld County’s many, many

cinco de mayo sombrero

For most residents of the United States, Cinco de Mayo means heading to the nearest Mexican restaurant and indulging in multiple margaritas. However, the 5th of May celebration is much more than just tortilla chips and margs. Cinco de Mayo is a Mexican holiday commemorating the victory of the Mexican militia over the French army at the Battle of Puebla in 1862. It is not, as many people think, Mexican

Foote Lagoon Concert Series is just around the corner!

This is one of my favorite events of the summer and because it’s on a Thursday night it doesn’t interfere with my crazy weekend festival schedule. I like lots of things about this festival – the proximity to downtown Loveland, the beautiful setting and the floating stage. The 2011 musical lineup for Loveland’s Foote Lagoon Concert Series has been announced and I’m very excited to see fiddle players on the

“The King & I” is a movie I have cherished since childhood, and after my first experience at the Candlelight watching their production of “Clue,” I was a little concerned. Could they put on such a well-known and well-liked classic? While I was a little let down by “Clue,” I can happily report that my concerns about their current show vanished as soon as the first scene began to unfold.
