I discovered Monroe’s Lounge this past summer when I was invited to attend a Friday night networking group for people on Twitter.com. My husband and I were quite surprised when we found the place to be much more than just a hotel bar.

Located inside the newly remodeled Best Western on the southwest corner of I25 and Eisenhower (Hwy 34), Monroe’s is a classy bar ideally located for networking groups and business meetings. The place has a bit of a retro feel, with funky lights and dark colors.

Since that original visit, Monroe’s has become one of the Mayor’s favorite watering holes.

Let’s talk about happy hour first, because Monroe’s Lounge has one of the best happy hours in Northern Colorado. Running from 4 to 7 p.m., it features 2 for 1 drinks and free, hot appetizers.

Now let’s talk about food. Much to my husband’s delight, Monroe’s makes an awesome hamburger. As some of you know, Ryan consider himself a connoisseur of the hamburger, so restaurants are under intense scrutiny whenever he orders one.

Not only is Monroe’s burger a half-pound, a prerequisite for a “good” burger, it is always cooked exactly to order, a feat not many restaurants can conquer. Monroe’s has ten specialty burgers to chose from, including their brand new Portobello burger with bleu cheese crumbles. My favorite, Monroe’s Inferno, is marinated in wing sauce and served with fresh jalapenos, crushed red pepper and red pepper aioli ($10).

Just today Monroe’s released a new menu,  which is introducing some exciting new items as well as favorite standbys. In addition to burgers, Monroe’s has entrée specials, including steaks. A 12-ounce New York Strip with all the fixings is only $20. If you’d like something smaller, they offer an 8-ounce Sirloin with bleu cheese crumbles for $13. There are chicken dishes, like the Chicken Marsala served over fettuccini for only $12, and even lightly battered fish and chips for $10.

Monroe’s Lounge offers a good selection of wines and beers. Seniors get a 10% discount and there’s a menu for the kiddos too. Monroe’s also has an amazing group of bartenders and wait staff who seem to truly care about their customers.

Monroe’s Lounge often features live music and every Friday is karaoke night (sing a song and get a free shot!). If you’d like to keep informed of all the fun happenings at Monroe’s, become a fan on Facebook by clicking here.
