Estes Park, Colorado bridge

Tomorrow I will stand beside a very good friend as she ties the knot in Estes Park, Colorado. She has had a longtime love affair with the town; she and her fiance had their first date there, got engaged there and will now be married there. So I thought this was the ideal week to post an article about the town of Estes Park. As you’ll discover, I’ve had mixed

the mayor says goodbye to the Biergarten Festival in Morrison

Dear HeidiTown Citizens & Tourists, It’s time for another note from the Mayor. There’s so much to tell you about it’s rather overwhelming. Every time I turn around I discover another street fair, county fair, music festival, beer fest, wine and food extravaganza”¦ and so many of these events sounds fantastic, but I can’t blog about all of them! I do list quite a few on Facebook, so if you

It's a gnarly beer festival giveaway!

There is nothing HeidiTown residents (and tourists) like more than free beer and it’s time, once again, to give some away. The 3rd Annual Gnarly Barley Brew Festival is Saturday, August 6 at the Larimer County Fair at The Ranch in Loveland Colorado. This year’s event will be bigger and better than ever with 24 breweries attending. Food and beer pairings will be available again this year presented by Beer

Big River, the Adventures of Huckleberry Finn

Huck Finn has made his way to the Candlelight Dinner Playhouse and has been welcomed with open arms. “Big River, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn,” originally performed on Broadway in the late 1980s, opened at Candlelight on Father’s Day. When I came to the Candlelight for “The King & I,” the actors had a lot to live up to – and they did -but I had no such expectations for

Colorado Renaissance Festival

With knights and ladies, sword fights and duals, turkey legs and sausage on a stick, jesters and wandering musicians, the Colorado Renaissance Festival has more fodder for a writer than most events. This festival is partly responsible for the creation of HeidiTown as it is today because it inspired my first festival review back in 2009; prior to this blog becoming exclusively dedicated to writes ups about events, festivals and

Rippled silk effect German flag with sky background

I’m excited to tell my readers about this festival. This is not an Oktoberfest, but a celebration of German culture at a family-friendly event in Morrison, Colorado. The 15th Annual Biergarten Festival is a yearly event hosted by the German American Chamber of Commerce of Colorado (GACC-CO). The event is set up to resemble an authentic German beer garden atmosphere – the kind of place German families spend time together

Colorado State Haggis Toss Championships at Elizabeth Celtic Festival

Much to my delight, there’s no shortage of Celtic festivals in Colorado. With the Rocky Mountain Irish Festival more than a month away, this little festival will give you a reason to jig in July. With everything from Scottish athletics to music by some of the best area Celtic bands, the Elizabeth Celtic Festival is definitely worth checking out. Read all about it here.

My Handle Bar phone number photo

There are some things that just go together – peanut butter and jelly, Ginger Rodgers and Fred Astaire and biking and beer. Now there is a Colorado company combining those last two things into a very fun outing. I first heard of My Handle Bar on Twitter, and I got rather overly excited about the whole idea. Our connection on Twitter resulted in the Mayor of HeidiTown.com and some Town
