Today, instead of a festival, I’m highlighting a series of events that take place three out of four Fridays each month in Old Town Fort Collins. The Friday series started with First Friday Gallery Walk, a program that takes place in cities around the country. The Downtown Business Association then added Foodie Fridays, to embrace the city’s culinary culture, and then Shop Late Friday, as a way to promote downtown

I’m featuring TEDxFrontRange on HeidiTown again this year, and while it isn’t a festival, it fits the spirit of HeidiTown. If you are unfamiliar with TEDx, it’s an afternoon of enlightenment through short presentations by a variety of folks. TEDx originated from TED, founded in 1984, by Richard Saul Wurman. He saw a powerful convergence between Technology, Entertainment and Design happening in the world. The event brings together movers and

Into every life, a little rain must fall, but children shouldn’t have to bear the brunt of the storm and that’s where Realities for Children comes in. The Fort Collins based, Realities for Children is the May recipient of the HeidiTown Gives Back Campaign. The mission of RFC is  to provide for the unmet needs of children who have been abused, neglected or are at-risk by uniting local businesses, youth

For the second year in a row, the Governor’s Art Show is being featured on HeidiTown and I couldn’t be more honored. Whether you are a lifelong art collector, or just a casual art observer, this is the art show for you. If you love food, and who doesn’t, you won’t want to miss the Taste of Loveland. For just $40 you’ll be able to spend hours tasting food from 30 different restaurants. Plus, you can taste beer and wine from over 40 vendors. Yes, it’s an evening of gluttony, but you’ll be indulging for a great cause, and that makes it okay. This year is the 9th Annual Taste and it

I am very excited to feature the  24th  Annual Taste of Vail  today. Last month I got to sit down with Chef Paul Ferzacca, owner of  La Tour Restaurant & Bar in Vail. Chef Ferzacca is also deeply involved with the production of Taste of Vail, and his passion for this event is palpable. After our sit down, I was more excited than ever to attend this event in April.

Featured Festival: Great Plates, Fort Collins, Colorado

Good food for a great price with proceeds going to a worthy cause, that’s what Great Plates is all about. The two-week long culinary event features 30 plus restaurants and raises money for the Food Bank of Larimer County – a substantial amount of money. Last year’s event raised $35,000 and the organizers hope to beat that amount by raising $40,000 this year. It works like this, the participating restaurants

Featured Festival: Loveland Snow Sculpture in the Dark, 2014

I’ve been attending and writing about Snow Sculpture in the Dark since it’s conception in 2010. A grassroots event, it has grown into a sanction snow sculpting competition where the winners go on to represent the State of Colorado at the U.S. National Snow Sculpting Championships. It’s a pretty darn big deal, and the artists who participate take it very seriously. Loveland Snow Sculpture in the Dark This is as

A fellow travel blogger once called me “a tweeting fool,” and she’s right. I love Twitter, and when I’m on a trip I tweet regularly. My twitter account is not hooked up to HeidiTown’s Facebook page, but it is hooked up to Instagram, Foursquare and Pinterest, so whenever I post a pic or check-in somewhere, a tweet informs my followers of my whereabouts. I decided that it would be fun

Yep, it’s that time of year again, Ullr Festival is almost here. This crazy event takes place for an entire week (January 5-11, 2014). We attended for the first time last year, when I was asked to be a judge of the Ullr Festival Parade. I’m judging again this year and I can’t wait. Ryan and I loved every minute of Ullr Festival and we made friends everywhere we went
